Well-known for his chart topping hits including “Calendar Girl,” “Love Will Keep Us Together,” “Happy Birthday Sweet Sixteen,” and “Breaking Up Is Hard To Do,” Neil Sedaka’s legendary career spans more than six decades. Sedaka’s interest in music is rooted in classical training, which had a profound effect on his career. By the age of nine, he had already begun his classical training at the prestigious Julliard School of Music. Gaining fame as one of the first teen pop stars in the 50’s, Sedaka was catapulted into stardom after Connie Francis recorded his “Stupid Cupid” and later sang the theme song Sedaka co-wrote with Howard Greenfield for Where the Boys Are. Sedaka’s subsequent hits including “Oh Carol!,” “Next Door to an Angel” and “The Diary” are synonymous with the coming of age of Rock and Roll.
The first half of the performance will feature special York Symphony Orchestra programming conducted by Dr. Robert Hart Baker with the second half featuring Neil Sedaka and hits, accompanied by YSO.
Proceeds from this special performance will benefit all York Symphony programs including school performances, education programs and community outreach.
In appreciation for support, the evening will include a special dessert reception for all ticket holders beginning at 7pm in the main lobby.
